So I've been asked to post my story on how I got a TBI. I will have to tell it from what my family told me since most of my memory of the last year has been wiped.
In March of 2012 I developed a severe upper respiratory infection. My fever would spike to over 103. Then on March 17 I had 2 grand mal seizures. At the hospital they recorded over 20 seizure while I was there. Turned out my respiratory infection spread to my brain and developed encephalitis which caused me to go into status epilepticus.
Physically I appear completely normal. My intellect and reaction skills are completely in tact. My only issue is my memory. At first I could not create new memories. Now I can create memories but my "timeline" is messed up. Things that happened weeks ago feel like they happened yesterday and things that happened yesterday feels like they happened weeks ago.
My case is quite rare according to my neurologist and I am quite lucky to survive (1 in 5 die from status epilepticus). Thanks to a loving wife, family and Pate Rehab I am progressing quite well. I am hoping to return to work full time in late June.

Wow seems like you had a much severe case then me. It's great that you have such a positive attitude about it
That's the way I approach it. My illness happened so I just tell myself to move on and get better
